Walk and Talk Therapy

Walk & Talk.jpg

Many individuals feel uncomfortable sitting in an office, facing a therapist, and talking about difficult feelings and vulnerable experiences. The growing field of "Walk and Talk" therapy addresses this issue by getting clients and therapists outside and walking. Often individuals report that walking side by side with their therapist feels more natural, and science tells us that exercise can lift mood, increase energy, deepen creative thinking, and improve cognitive functioning. Studies indicate that exposure to natural environments, especially in conjunction with exercise, is an effective way to address anxiety and depression. Walk and Talk therapy is not suited for everyone. During assessment, you and I can decide if it would be appropriate and helpful to include in treatment.
